Ouvert en juillet 2005 dans la station balnéaire de Playa del Carmen au Mexique, l’Hotel Básico offre 15 chambres conçues dans un esprit industriel, excentrique et créatif. Un espace surprenant avec des vues spectaculaires sur la mer des Caraïbes, où les piscines, deux réservoirs circulaires industriels font écho au passé de la ville (ancienne station thermale et pôle de l’industrie pétrolière mexicaine). La nuit, des projections de films classiques en plein air défient le conformisme.

Le magazine américain Wallpaper a appelé cela « rock n’ roll bohemia » et le NY Times d’ajouter “At the country’s most original hotel … God is in the details”. Car au pays des ACE HOTEL, tout est effectivement dans le détail et le style bohème, arty et rock.

Fondé en 1999 par Alex Calderwood, le Ace de Seattle est le premier né d’une famille de boutique-hotels bon marché présents aussi aujourd’hui à Portland, New York et Palm Springs. Selon Alex Calderwood, le style et l’ameublement de chaque hotel est imaginé pour refléter l’historique du bâtiment et du quartier dans lequel il a été implanté : le Ace Seattle est un ancien centre de réhabilitation de l’Armée du Salut, le Ace Palm Springs un ancien motel de Howard Johnson, le Ace Portland a investi le bâtiment classé de l’ancien Clyde Hotel (théâtre d’une scène dans le film Drugstore Cowboy) et enfin le Ace New York qui occupe l’ancien Breslin Hotel, un bâtiment de 1904.

Chaque hotel a été conçu avec la collaboration d’entreprises, d’artistes et de designers locaux.

John hosts KEXP radio’s Morning Show and is a huge supporter of new music, giving great emerging artists crucial exposure audiences in Seattle, NYC and over the internet. For Ace, he chose mixes of brand-new and familiar music, like blues, African funk, indie pop and Johnny Cash.

You can come for a spa party or mellow retreat. On Sundays there’s a DJ scene at the pool. Almost every night there’s something going on at the Amigo Room bar — live music, DJs, bingo, crafting, karaoke and the occasional special event. And it’s open late. We also throw parties with live music and DJs during Coachella, Gay Pride, White Party and Dinah Shore. Just sayin’. »
