Dans le sud de la Belgique, l’agence d’architecture AABE a transformé une vieille dépendance en un étonnant bed & breakfast aux allures de petit cottage, entre architecture vernaculaire et contemporaine. Dans la structure existante, vient se glisser une mezzanine faite de poutrelles et de tôles d’acier, un ouvrage qui se prolonge à l’extérieur pour créer une extension vitrée. Dans cette boîte de verre adossée à la façade, le salon s’ouvre généreusement sur le jardin. Mêlant neuf et ancien, les architectes ont greffé leur projet au coeur même du bâtiment existant, prolongeant son histoire, initiant d’harmonieux contrastes et de surprenants dialogues.
À propos : « This is a small outbuilding which has been extended and transformed into a house – now a bed and breakfast. The aim was to introduce steel sheets into the existing structure to create a mezzanine floor; the aim then was to extend these sheets outdoors in order to create a living room enclosed solely in glass which opens out generously into the natural surrounding environment. The architect has taken care to blend the new elements into the existing building. The work carried out has not been to the detriment of the old building. The original heavy and solid features of the old building are still clear for all to see, and these features contrast with the extremely soft touch of the more recent work which has been carried out, the intention of which is obvious: the inclusion of features which create a contrast and which are not a close replication of the existing features. »

It looks cozy during snowing or beautiful sunny day. I really love the living room in glass, it makes you feel outside while you’re actually still inside the house.

Voici le genre de projet que je kiffe grave : partir d’un existant qui a une ame et une histoire et (tenter de) le sublimer en le revisitant …..sans le dénaturer.
Il faut dire que l’exercice est hautement perilleux car les risques de se planter sont nombreux.
Voici un exemple de mariage qui à parfaitement réussi.
